The Lions NEAFL side remain undefeated after a huge 67-point win over the Swans over the weekend.

All five games have seen the Lions score 100 points or more, a testament to their depth and consistency.

NEAFL Development Coach Paul Henriksen said it was another dominant win and admits nothing could rain on the players’ parade.

The weather was challenging with gale force winds and rain.

“A couple of the players actually said they laughed out there , the wind was blowing, they couldn’t get the ball movement happening,” Henriksen said.

“We done [sic] the hard work in quarters, one, two, and three as well so that was pleasing.”

The rain couldn’t stop Ben Keays, who kicked four for the match, with three being in the last quarter. Keays’ accuracy has him sitting second as leading goal kicker of the NEAFL competition.

“He played really well Keaysie, he got three goals in those conditions in a row,” Henriksen said.

The Lions dominated inside 50s throughout the match, with Allen Christensen coming away with eight. AFL listed players Ryan Bastinac (26 disposals, 2 goals), Toby Wooller (30 disposals, 14 marks) and Jacob Allison (24 disposals, 7 rebound 50s) all were standouts for the victors.

“Ryan Bastinac again proved himself a good player in the midfield for us,” Henriksen said.

“Those blokes are really trying to keep knocking on the door for senior selection at the moment.”

Travelling down to Canberra this weekend, Henriksen said the boys are in for a tough match.

“They knocked us off down there last year playing really good footy against us, and we know that they look forward to the challenge and hopefully our guys to step up to it down in Canberra,” he said.
