The lions hit the scoreboard first with Curtis McCarthy kicking the first major in the opening three minutes before the GIANTS kicked away to win 16.6 (102) to 10.12 (72).

The GIANTS dominated the first quarter kicking the next three majors, before James Creighton kicked a goal in the dying minutes of the first quarter to leave the Lions trailing by six points going into quarter time.

The GIANTS were straight out of the gates in the second quarter with Riley Hamilton putting 12 points on the board in a matter of minutes. The Lions kicked three goals (Archie Smith, Kyle Dunkley, Cody Curtin) yet struggled to keep up with GWS’s pace and trailed by 28 points going into the half time break.

The third quarter saw the Lions take some dominance with Curtin kicking two majors to get the Lions within 13-point contention going into the final break.

The Lions kept at it in the final quarter, with Curtin kicking his fourth goal of the night to get the Lions within seven points of the opposition, but it was short lived with the GWS collecting 5.2 to the Lions’ 2.3.

Tahj Abberley impressed with 23 disposals, while Shadeau Brain and Luke Lloyd each collected 21. Tom Doedee also contributed strongly with 15 disposals and five marks.
