Inspired by the vision of AFL legend Michael Long, The Long Walk began in 2004 when Long walked from Melbourne to Canberra to advocate for improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Today, the movement continues to bring communities together across Australia, encouraging everyone to walk together in the spirit of respect, recognition and reconciliation.

For the past nine years, the Brisbane Lions have proudly coordinated the Brisbane Long Walk, creating an opportunity for fans, families and the wider community to come together before the game to celebrate the rich histories, cultures and contributions of First Nations peoples.

Adding to the significance of the day, Michael Long will attend the pre-match festivities, giving supporters the opportunity to celebrate alongside the man whose vision inspired a national movement that continues to make a lasting impact.

Supporters are encouraged to arrive at South Bank early, take part in the walk, enjoy the live entertainment and stand with us as we celebrate culture, connection and the enduring legacy of The Long Walk.

Together, every step helps build a stronger future founded on respect, understanding and unity.
