Since 2004, each competing club in the Toyota AFL Grand Final can nominate a representative to present the Premiership Cup to the winning team.
Black, accepted the Club’s invitation this week.
Black played a club record 322 AFL games for the Lions from 1998-2013, won Premierships in 2001, 2002 and 2003, was awarded the Brownlow Medal in 2002 and won the Norm Smith Medal in the 2003 Grand Final and Co-Captained the club in seasons 2007 and 2008.
He was voted Brisbane Best and Fairest on three occasions, winning the Merrett-Murray medal in 2001, 2002 and 2006, was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2020 and became a Legend in the Lions Hall of Fame in 2023.
In recent years Black has spent time coaching within the Youi Brisbane Lions Academy.

“I was genuinely humbled when the Club called, and it’s a moment that will mean a great deal to me and my family.
“The Lions have been such a big part of my life, I have enormous respect for Fages and the team and I know how much work goes into earning a place on the stage on Grand Final day.
“If the opportunity comes, it would be incredibly special to hand the cup to this team and share that moment with our players.”
