Neale was traded to the Lions from Fremantle ahead of the 2019 season, going on to play 186 games for the club.
Lions List Manager Dom Ambrogio said Neale would depart Brighton Homes Arena with the club’s best wishes.
“Lachie has been a great player for the Brisbane Lions, and we thank him for his incredible contribution over his eight seasons,” Ambrogio said.
“We understand Lachie’s reasons for wishing to explore free agency and we wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career.”
The club will further celebrate and recognise Neale’s contribution to the club in the coming days.
The AFL will also confirm the suitable free agency compensation the Lions will receive during the Trade and Free Agency period.
