For years, Fitzroy-Brisbane Lions Historical Society Museum Custodian Brenden Campbell has painstakingly been searching for images of all Fitzroy’s former players.
Campbell has spent thousands of hours scouring online community groups, ancestry sites and other historic records to complete the impressive photo montage that appears at the Museum housed at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium.
What seemed a near impossible task years ago, the display now boasts individual headshots of all players, bar one…‘Arch’ Muirhead.
Born in Campbellfield, Victoria, Muirhead played 16 senior games with Fitzroy across their first two seasons of the VFL competition (1897-98) before later representing St Kilda in 33 games from 1900-01.
So far, a single image of him has proven elusive – despite the constant digging through relevant archives.
If you happen to have a lead on where the Club could potentially source a photo of ‘Arch’, then please reach out to Brenden Campbell on brendenc1966@gmail.com or 0405 354 291.
Campbell is also the key contact should you wish to book an appointment to see the Museum.
While the search for Muirhead’s photo continues, Campbell is also busily working on sourcing images for the 214 players who represented Fitzroy in the VFA from 1884-96.
He has already identified 75% of the VFA players, with just 55 remaining. CLICK HERE to learn more about the Historical Society
