Lachie Neale, Dayne Zorko and Mitch Robinson were tonight named joint winners of the 2019 Players’ Player of the Year award at the Lions’ Club Champion event in Brisbane.

This is the first time in the award’s history that more than one person has been awarded the recognition. The trio were presented the award by teammate Ryan Lester.

Neale and Zorko are first-time recipients and played in all 22 home and away matches and the Club’s two AFL Finals Series games.

Robinson, who was awarded this honour in 2015, played in all matches in 2019, bar the Club’s Semi Final loss to GWS GIANTS.

Each week, the players were asked to vote on who they felt best reflected the values they strive for as a group. There was a great emphasis placed on acts that benefited the team as a whole and not necessarily the individual.

The player with the most votes each week wins, then the player who accumulates the most ‘wins’ over the season is the overall winner of the award – not necessarily the player with the most votes overall.
