Sydney has continued its strong run of form with a solid 29-point win over the Brisbane Lions at Blacktown on Saturday afternoon.

Brisbane looked very good early, kicking the first two goals of the game.

Sydney responded shortly after with two of the own to ensure the Lions only led by three points at quarter-time.

It only took 21 seconds in the second term for Reid to kick his first of two second-quarter goals before being rested.

The Swans came out victors, 12.8 (80) to 7.9 (51) to notch a seventh consecutive victory.

The Lions were continually able to get the ball inside 50 but were unable to hit the scoreboard like the Swans were able to do down the other end.

Brisbane were able to win the last quarter, but it was all a little too late for the Lions who have now lost their last five games.

Liam Dawson (32 disposals) was impressive in defence, Ben Keays (28 disposals and a goal) in the middle and Rohan Bewick (two goals) were solid contributors.

Sydney had a number of players on limited playing time including Sam Reid, James Bell and Lewis Melican as the trio returned from injury. The injury blows continue on Saturday in Blacktown with Angus Styles injuring shoulder and Riley Stoddart with concussion.

Sydney Coach Tadgh Kennelly said it was the Swans’ best win of the season due to the circumstances.

“There is a big onus on the rest of the group when there are game-limited players coming back from injury, so I couldn’t be prouder of the way we played today,” Kennelly said.

“It’s good that we have been able to respond, but you don’t want to be giving teams a start.”

Next week will be another huge week for the Lions, taking on Southport at Fankhauser Reserve, whilst the Swans play the GIANTS in Wollongong.
