#17 Claye Beams
Injuries again played havoc with Claye Beams' season in 2017, with the defender restricted to just nine Senior matches.
Beams did, however, display excellent form at the back end of the year which reminded Lions fans of his potential heading into 2018.
Playing in the final three Senior matches of the year, Beams averaged just over 15 disposals per match and kicked two goals.
He carried this form into the NEAFL finals series where he was easily best on
Beams’ run out of defence and disposal efficiency are valuable traits that will be of great benefit to the Lions in 2018, with keeping his body healthy key to hitting top form.

#18 Nick Robertson
Nick Robertson elevated his game to another level in 2017, playing in all but one Senior match and showing huge signs of improvement.
Robertson averaged 16 disposals and four marks per match, often playing
Never one to back down from a challenge, Robertson played on some of the biggest names in the sport during the season, including Buddy Franklin and Dustin Martin.
It was against Martin that Robertson was reported for rough conduct and suspended for one match.
Robertson recently re-signed with the Lions through to the end of 2019 and was rewarded for his strong season by winning the Shaun Hart Trademark Player of the Year award at the Lions Club Champion.

#20 Cedric Cox
Excitement machine Cedric Cox burst onto the scene in 2017 after coming to the Lions with pick 24 in the 2016 draft.
Possessing silky smooth skills and a wonderful turn of speed, Cox quickly forced his way into the Lions Senior side, making his AFL debut in Round 4 against the Tigers.
Cox’s best match of the season was in Round 18 against the Blues when he collected 18 touches and kicked his first ever AFL goal, which won the fan moment of the year award at the Lions Club Champion.
Cox finished the year as a NEAFL premiership player and also extended his contract with the Lions until the end of 2020.
