Ahead of the Lions’ match against the Eagles, lions.com.au takes a look at this week’s 'Opposition Injury Watch’.

The Eagles will be without key playmakers Chris Masten (ankle), Dom Sheed (torn pec), Sharrod Wellingham (knee) and defender Mitch Brown (finger), while Lewis Jetta, Jack Redden and Mark Hutchings are racing the clock ahead of the opening round clash on Sunday.

Jetta has played just five quarters of football in the pre-season after he injured his calf against the Gold Coast Suns on March 3.

The former Sydney Swan is ‘touch and go’ to play against the Lions this weekend with a decision to be made by the match committee after training on Thursday.

“I think the way he's trained he's been able to do enough,” Eagles captain Shannon Hurn said on Tuesday.

“But it will certainly be a case of getting through this week and seeing how the match committee views it.”

Former Lion Jack Redden is one step closer to an Eagles debut following a solid performance for East Perth in the WAFL last weekend.

Redden, who was on limited match time in a return from a hernia operation, collected 20 disposals, had five tackles and kicked a goal in the Royals’ 76-point loss to Claremont.

25-year-old, Redden, who was traded to the Eagles in the off-season, was realistic in his expectations of lining up on Easter Sunday against his old club.

“There’s a long time between now and then,” Redden told WA's The Sunday Times.

“My performance wasn’t overly great, but I’m just happy to put my hand up.

“The body pulled up alright, so I feel I’m on top of (the injury) now.”
