Lions defender Josh Drummond answered questions from fans during a 30-minute live online chat at 3:15pm (Queensland time) on Wednesday 8 March 2012.

Please find below an edited transcript from what was said during the Q&A session.

Josh Drummond: Hey guys, it’s Drummo here awaiting your questions...fire away!!

Bato: Hey Drummo! Who has most impressed you this pre-season?

Josh Drummond: Of the younger guys, Sam Docherty looks like he will have a great future with the Club. Big ‘Goose’ Maguire has been one who has really taken himself to another level.

Brendan: Hey Drummo! When can we expect to see you back on the park?

Josh Drummond: Hey Brendan, I am on track to play next weekend, most likely in the Reserves.

Wakey: Sorry about the hold-up with injuries - hope this is the last. Am looking forward to seeing you out there. Is "Little Bit" Longer going to win Rookie of the Year?

Josh Drummond: Haha, he is definitely an impressive young ruckman! Early days but he has shown some really good signs so far!

Wakey: What is the most likely scenario for the forward set-up for Round 1 ?

Josh Drummond: Good question Wakey! We have a few young key position players who will be fighting it out to take Browny's fwd post in the early rounds. I think whoever puts their hand up in the next few games will earn themselves a spot!

Thumper: Have you received any high definitions lately?

Josh Drummond: I think you mean high distinctions there Thumper! And yes, I have had a few ;)

Glen: Can you see yourself playing up forward, or will your role always be kicking out and down back?

Josh Drummond: Hi Glen, I do throw out the odd sly comment about having a go up forward but it is always thrown back at me pretty quickly!! I see myself as a defender and I reckon that's where i'll spend almost all my time.

Brendan: Awesome, what do you like to do in your time outside of football?

Josh Drummond: I am currently studying a sports science/coaching degree externally which I am really enjoying.

Wakey: I am pleased to see Mitch Golby doing well. Maybe this could release Ash to the forward line to show 'em how it's done. AGAIN!!!! You'd probably prefer to see him stay where he normally plays though, yeah?

Josh Drummond: Yeah, Mitch has shown some real improvement throughout the last 12 months and could be one to nail down a small defender spot. ‘Boonj’ McGrath loves getting up there and kicking a few goals, and as much as I don't want to know, he is a dangerous small forward.

Craig: You have the Blues at the Gabba in Round Two, how do you think you will go? They seem to have the Lions’ measure at the moment.

Josh Drummond: Mmm, I’m not exactly sure about that Craig. I think they are still smarting from us knocking us off in the Elimination Final a few years ago! Will be a big game for the Club though being our first home game and I'm sure it will be a ripper contest!

Kirsty: Hi - I notice that you recently got engaged - Congratulations. What impact do your partners have on your career and how do they handle the new 'WAG' lifestyle?

Josh Drummond: Hey Kirsty, they have a huge impact on our careers as a lot of physical and emotional effort goes into preparing for games so their support is crucial. As for the WAG part, I don't think too much changes, especially up here in QLD where footy is quite low key.

Wakey: Apart from JB, I particularly miss the opportunity to see the new young players like Docherty and Zorko. Any likelihood of these new faces getting a look-in before Round 1?

Josh Drummond: Yeah, it was a shame about the Captain going down, but our list is actually in the best shape it has been for some time across the board. Docherty I believe will be playing next weekend as well.

Rachael: Hi Drummo! What is your favourite style of music?

Josh Drummond: Anything but techno!!!

Thumper: What do you think tastes better, pumpkin or sweet potato?

Josh Drummond: Hard to split Thumper!! Which are you planning to cook tonight?? Why do they call you Thumper anyways?? Is it because you sound like an elephant when you walk?

Susan: Hi Josh, what is in your opinion, the best movie to watch on a date night?

Josh Drummond: An action film Susan! Is that romantic??

Susan: I guess it depends on which action movie! The Bourne Trilogy could be considered slightly romantic? What's your favourite movie of all time?

Josh Drummond: Mmm....tough one! I'm a big Denzel fan so some of his movies like Training Day are right up there!

Michael: Hey Drummo, I'm 15 and I've just started playing footy. Do you have any tips for a beginner like me?

Josh Drummond: Hey Michael, all I would say is to just enjoy it!! Find a coach or team mate you respect and learn all you can from them! Good luck.

Ben: Has your family supported you a lot over the years?

Josh Drummond: Yeah Ben, very much so. Being from the Sunny Coast, there were a lot of hours spent on the highway getting me to training and games, I cannot thank them enough!

Glen: How is Patrick Wearden going? He’s a former student at the school I teach at.

Josh Drummond: He's going well Glen. He seems to have a really good attitude to training. Hopefully he can get some senior experience this year!

Hey guys, thank heaps for the chat, have really enjoyed it. Go LIONS in 2012!
