THE LIONS new initiative ‘Women Of The Pride’ is gathering momentum, with more 300 memberships sold since its launch on Monday.

Brisbane Lions launch Women of the Pride

A host of high-profile Queensland women have thrown their support behind the project, which aims to get women actively engaged and involved with the Club through a range of events and activities.

Christie Leppitsch, wife of Senior Coach Justin, told SEN Radio on Tuesday that it is an exciting time to be at the Club.

“Brisbane is a small town (in the sense that) when you know people you can get things done and make things happen. The Lions have a really large percentage of female members, in the beginning it was just a way to get them more engaged and more involved.”

A range of Women of the Pride functions will be held during the 2015 season, including a Gala Lunch on Thursday, May 28; a Match Day Cocktail Function on Sunday, July 12, when the Sydney Swans visit the GABBA; and a Melbourne Pre-Match Function at the MCG on Sunday, July 19, for the match against the Demons.

“We can network with them, fundraise with them, do all sorts of things with them and get them more involved with the Club.

“It seems like a really good place to be at the Club right now; the vibe is great, everyone is just really excited from fans to players to the families to the partners.

“It’s a really good place to be.”
