You would think Cam Ellis-Yolmen had been with the Lions group for years, if you were at today’s second match simulation for the 2020 season at Twin Ovals.

Ellis-Yolmen moved with ease around the ground and looked at home in the midfield group alongside Jarryd Lyons, Dayne Zorko and Lachie Neale.

“It’s awesome to be in that midfield,” Ellis-Yolmen told lions.com.au.

“Obviously with match simulation you can build on how you play with each other.

“The relationships at this camp have been awesome.”

Supporters would be forgiven to forget that Ellis-Yolmen is familiar and played alongside many faces in the Lions group.

Before arriving in Brisbane, he was at the Adelaide Crows for seven seasons, playing alongside Jarryd Lyons and Charlie Cameron, whom he now lives with. He also played junior football in South Australia with Lachie Neale.

“We can talk to each other so easily,” he said.

“Being an Adelaide boy, I’ve known Lachie [Neale] beforehand and Gazza [Jarryd Lyons] and everyone else, so building the relationships at this camp has been perfect.

“The best thing is because I know them, I can go back and talk to them and see how I can improve and learn the game plan through them.”

The 26-year-old said the camp has been helpful in establishing relationships with the 46-man team.

He believes the culture is strong – as demonstrated by him having had a decent conversation with each individual player.

“We’re in dorms and we’re all together and you spend that whole day together,” he said.

“It’s perfect for us, me, Cal [Ah Chee} Birch [Grand Birchall] and all the young guys coming through to get to know one another.”
