Brisbane Lions utility Brent Staker will compete against a host of AFL players from across the AFL competition in the name of febfast – the 28-day alcohol free challenge.

Staker will participate in the AFL Players’ Challenge – against the likes of Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle), Luke Ball (Collingwood), and Patrick Dangerfield (Adelaide) – to see who can raise the most money for Ladder and other charity programs.

Ladder will utlise these funds to support their existing work with vulnerable young people and create a new drug and alcohol resource designed to help those at risk of drug and alcohol related issues.

febfast encourages people to take a break from alcohol for the month of February and aims to raise money for vulnerable young Australians tackling serious alcohol and drug problems.

As one of the Lions’ representatives on the AFL Players Association’s board of delegates, Staker was more than willing to participate in such a worthy cause.

“I’m very happy to give my support to febfast, which is a great initiative that encourages healthy living – but most importantly, the funds that we raise through participating will go towards Ladder, which supports young Australians tackling serious alcohol and drug issues,” Staker told lions.com.au.

“I know that all the players from the other AFL clubs, and myself, are committed to taking a strong stance on this incredibly important cause.”

“We’re really looking forward to participating and raising some much-needed funds.”
