Black was among 12 new AFL Life Members who were recognised and rewarded for their outstanding service to the game.
The Brownlow Medallist was joined by former Lions champion and great mate Luke Power, Swans pair Adam Goodes and Jude Bolton, and recently retired forward Barry Hall in qualifying for Life Membership by reaching 300 games of service.
While Black will begin the season with 296 senior AFL games next to his name, his 22 pre-season matches and two International Rules Series’ were also taken into account when rewarding Life Membership.
He is set to reach an even more exclusive group of players to reach 300 senior AFL games in Round 4 this year against Gold Coast at the Gabba.
Hawthorn and Essendon Senior Coach’s Alastair Clarkson and James Hird also received AFL Life Membership by reaching 300 games of combined service as a player and coach, while umpires Michael Vozzo and Stuart Wenn, former Port Adelaide CEO Brian Cunningham, long-time senior football writer Mike Sheahan and former AFL Commissioner and champion player Graeme John were recognised for their service to the game.
The Brisbane Lions wish to once again extend its congratulations to ‘Blacky’ on yet another significant milestone in his football career.
