The Brisbane Lions have returned from a successful visit to the Sunshine Coast as part of the 2010 Telstra AFL Community Camp.

Over the two days, players visited 38 schools and presented healthy eating and leadership seminars to over 4,800 students, joined over 650 junior players from 10 local clubs in footy skills, spoke to 50 local AFL coaches in a forum and raised over $5,000 for local junior AFL through the Feast with the Lions dinner.

The Lions also took part in an Ironman challenge against the likes of Hayley Bateup and Shannon Eckstein at Alex Heads Surf Club, participated in a Rec Footy match with some local personalities and were put through their paces with a public skills training session at the Maroochy Multi Sports Centre.

The kind hospitality from the local community together with the keen public and media interest in the region augurs well for future growth of AFL on the Sunshine Coast.

The Brisbane Lions and the AFL would like to extend their thanks to the people of the Sunshine Coast for their warm welcome and look forward to visiting them again in the near future.
