The Vodafone Brisbane Lions wish to advise that rookie player Pat Garner will miss the entire 2009 AFL season after undergoing a full knee reconstruction late last week.

It was the 21 year-old's third knee reconstruction in five seasons since being drafted to the Club with Pick No.27 in the 2004 National AFL Draft.

Garner re-injured his troublesome right knee during pre-season training but wasn't aware of the full extent of the damage until he visited a specialist earlier this month.

He will commence another injury rehabilitation program which is expected to keep him sidelined for approximately 12 months.

The Club extends its sympathies to Pat at this very difficult and frustrating time for him.
