Fresh from a resounding 110-point win over Morningside last week, the Lions Reserves will have their final NEAFL pre-season hitout this Saturday 17 March at 11am against the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium.

The match will provide those players not selected in this week’s senior squad one final opportunity to impress the Lions coaching staff ahead of Round 1 of the AFL Premiership Season.

The Reserves team is also expected to be bolstered with the inclusions of Josh Drummond and Sam Docherty, who will likely be selected in the side barring any mishaps at training during the week.

It will be a particularly special occasion for 18 year-old Docherty, who could don Lions colours for the first time in a match since being recruited from Phillip Island at last year’s AFL National Draft.

Queensland-based fans are now encouraged to head along to support the team, after Gold Coast announced that Metricon Stadium would be opening its gates for the clash.

Entry is FREE, with gates opening from 10:45am (with entry via Gate 3 only). Parking is also available in the Yellow and Red car parks in front of the stadium.

So if you’re looking for a footy fix in Queensland this weekend, head along to Metricon Stadium on Saturday to cheer on the Lions Reserves against Gold Coast Suns in their final pre-season practice match for 2012.
