THE Brisbane Lions have lost their fourth match in succession after falling to Geelong by 81 points at the Gabba.

The Cats led by 26 at quarter time and extended the gap at each change to win 24.11 (155) to 10.14 (74).

The injury-hit Lions drew within 20 points late in the second quarter, but had no answer as Geelong's superstars ran riot in the second half.

The Cats moved the ball quickly and with precision and had winners all over the ground from Cameron Mooney (three goals) at full-forward to Matthew Scarlett at full-back, who blanketed Brendan Fevola to just three kicks and one goal.

Since winning the opening four games of the season, the Lions have struggled to a 4-4 record.

The club's huge injury toll left a weakened squad on Saturday that frequently looked out of its depth.

Veterans Jonathan Brown and Simon Black - who fought a tight battle with Ling - were among the best, while Justin Sherman kicked three goals and James Polkinghorne offered something.

But in contrast to the Cats, the Lions’ skills were poor, turning the ball over far too often and being punished.
