Preserving our rich history
The Historical Society will be running tours of the new memorabilia display at Etihad Stadium throughout the AFL season.
While still relatively ‘new’ in its merged form, the Club has proud Fitzroy origins which date all the way back to 1883 - 14 years before the VFL competition was even introduced.
That long and proud history is now on display for all to see at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, following the unveiling of the Fitzroy-Brisbane Lions Historical Society Museum back in November last year.
The project had been in the works for more than a decade and the Club is thrilled to now have a safe and permanent home for our Fitzroy and Brisbane Lions memorabilia in Melbourne.
The Historical Society are already working towards further developing and preserving the Club’s rare collection of memorabilia, with all membership funds going directly back into the ongoing maintenance of the display.
Guided tours of the Museum will also be held every second Tuesday of the month (commencing 10 April) and are FREE for Historical Society members and their guests. Please contact either Custodian Arthur Wilson on 0405 565 814 or Bob Forrest on 0407 568 754 to book your place on one of the tours, or discuss alternate arrangements to see the display for yourself.
