The Lions have made a forced change to their record breaking AFLW side after Shannon Campbell was ruled out by the league’s concussion protocols.

Veteran Rheanne Lugg comes into the side to replace Campbell for Saturday’s clash with 5th place Melbourne at Casey Fields.

The Sunshine Coast defender is ineligible to play for 12 days after being concussed in the Club’s 15-point victory over the Kangaroos at the Gabba on Saturday.

If the Lions defeat the Demons on Saturday and other results go their way, they will get a bye next weekend meaning the foundation Lion will only miss the one match and be ready for the Club’s first final.

The Lions head into the clash on top of the ladder and full of confidence after winning four consecutive matches for the first time since the inaugural AFLW season.

The 4.11 (35) to 2.8 (20) victory over North Melbourne followed a nail-biting FIFO win on the road over the previously undefeated Collingwood, a comfortable rout of GWS in Canberra and a season defining victory over Fremantle where they inflicted the Dockers’ first defeat since the 2019 season.
