Rhys ‘Matho’ or ‘Beast Mode’ Mathieson was recruited by the Lions in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft from the Geelong Falcons. He is an agile midfielder renowned for his ability to win the contested ball and move down the ground to kick goals. He finished first among the rising stars in 2016 for total contested possession per game. Mathieson was integral to the Lions 2019 undefeated NEAFL side and also played 9 Senior games in 2019.
