It was the final fixtured game of the 1999 home and away Season, and a day that the Brisbane Lions spoiled Collingwood's party.

The Brisbane Lions took on Collingwood at their final home game at Victoria Park and finished 42-point victors, solidifying Collingwood's place at the bottom of the AFL Ladder.

Alistair Lynch and Craig McRae both finished with four goals, and Marcus Ashcroft was dominant with 24 disposals.

This was perhaps the game that sparked the huge rivalry between the Lions and the Magpies.

The Brisbane Lions went on to play finals, beating Carlton and the Western Bulldogs, before being defeated by the eventual premiers, North Melbourne, in the Preliminary final.
