Luke Hodge will get an early chance to recruit fans for his new club when the Brisbane Lions head to Launceston on Friday to do a INC pre-season camp for a second straight year.

Throughout his 16 seasons with the Hawthorn, Hodge played 46 matches at the ground now known as University of Tasmania Stadium – third behind only the MCG and Etihad Stadium in his career.

Now, with Chris Fagan at the helm, the Lions will conduct a nine-day camp in the familiar surroundings after last year's success.

Tassie native Fagan joked with AFL Media that it was becoming an annual visit to see his family.

The Hawks will take their community camp to Tasmania in March.

The entire Lions squad will be on hand, with Fagan viewing the trip as a valuable tool to integrate the eight new faces and further bed down his game plan.

The Club also believes the time spent in a cooler climate, and out of Brisbane's high humidity, is a huge advantage midway through the pre-season.

Hodge, Charlie Cameron and the six draftees – led by No.1 pick Cam Rayner – have fitted in comfortably in their first couple of weeks of training.

All took part in Friday's session at Yeronga that included a lengthy full-ground contested component.

The Lions' camp will begin on December 15 and finish on December 23 before players disperse for their Christmas break.

The Lions play Hawthorn in Launceston on July 14.
