Saturday night was an exciting win for the Brisbane Lions AFLW team in a stadium filled with 11,000 Adelaide Crows in a thrilling grand final rematch.

The Lions had many strong performers as shown by the statistics from the 31-19 victory.

Unquestionably, Sabrina Frederick-Traub dominated the field. Her overhead marking and physical presence could create a highlights reel of her own.

The departure of Tayla Harris appears to be a positive for Frederick-Traub, who enjoyed her status as the Lions’ solitary key forward.

Frederick-Traub racked up an outstanding 10 marks for the Lions, a stellar performance compared to the opposition, who’s leading player successfully marked four only.

Her efforts around goal contributed to a dominant game inside 50 for the Lions with the team collectively grabbing 13 marks to the Crows two inside 50.

Also doing damage in the forward line was Jess Wuetschner who booted two majors and made five tackles.

Following the inaugural AFLW season, both Frederick-Traub and Wuetschner were recognised by Champion Data as elite players, ranked in the top 10 per cent in the overall statistical analysis. Their performances on Saturday again proves their title amongst some of the competition’s best.

Lions midfielder Ally Anderson also impressed during the match. The 21-year-old was last week named by Lions Midfield Coach David Lake as the one to watch in 2018, and she certainly was.

Anderson collected 15 disposals, 12 tackles and five marks against the Crows, an outstanding start to follow her strong pre-season preparation. Anderson’s pressure and work ethic signified the Lions gritty approach to the game.
