Former Bears Darryl White, Michael McLean and Gilbert McAdam have been named in the Northern Territory Government’s AFLNT Team of the Century.

The Team of the Century was announced on Sunday to celebrate 100 years of Northern Territory football and includes NT football identities that established their careers on the national stage while also paying respect to the local men who made their name in the Territory.

Born in Alice Springs, White played 268 games for the Club (90 Bears, 178 Lions) between 1992-2005 and was a member of the 2001, 2002 and 2003 premiership sides.

McLean (87 games for the Bears and 1 match for the Lions) was born in the Northern Territory. He won the 1991 and 1993 fairest and best award at the Bears.

Hailing from a legendary Alice Springs football family, McAdam played 58 games for the Brisbane Bears between 1994-1996.

Adelaide Crows legend and dual-Norm Smith medallist Andrew McLeod was named captain of the side while Tiwi-born ruckman David Kantilla Snr was named vice-captain.

AFLNT CEO and non-voting Team of the Century Committee Chair, Michael Solomon said he was thrilled to witness an important part in history.

“Over 55,000 people have played the game here in the NT and our selection committee had the unenviable task of selecting the best 22 – it was never going to be a simple job but we are thrilled to have reached this point.

"Football means a lot to everyone in the NT, it is the sport that defines the Territory way of life and tonight is a culmination of 100 years of football excellence and achievement for those lucky enough to make this Team of the Century,” said Solomon.
