OVER the weekend, Brisbane Lions Talent Acquisition and Retention Manager Peter Schwab was on ABC Grandstand's Trading Places. In this interview, he covered questions about the upcoming Draft and Trade period.

On the Brisbane Lions in this year's draft and trade period:

“We’d love to be less active (In the trade and draft), but unfortunately it’s going to be a more active time for us this year.”

On James Aish:

“I’m chatting with Liam Pickering and at the moment, nothing is happening. Until we’re told otherwise, we’d have to assume that he’s still potentially a Brisbane Lions player.”

Read: Aish not certain to go

On Jack Redden:

“He’s got some Clubs that are showing interest in him, and he’s got some interest in going to.”

"He is a contracted player so obviously the deal would have to be in our favour. At the moment we haven’t spoken to any Clubs about Jack.”

On Stefan Martin and Sam Mayes:

"We’re working hard with both of those players (Martin and Mayes) and their management to keep them. We’ve got a few players coming out in 2016 and they’re two players that are important for our future.”

Read: Martin likely to stay

When asked later on in the interview he said:

“Absolutely going nowhere"

On Key Forwards:

“They’re so hard to find and no Club let’s go of some terific talent.”

“But if somehow it came up on the table, it would be smart for us to make it happen.”

On Josh Schache:

“If they (Carlton) decided to take young Schache, we’ve got a good choice after that. “

“Certainly Schache answers our key position long term.”

“He’s certainly got a family connection to the Club”

“We’d love to have him”

On Matt Leuenberger:

“I believe he’s been in conversations with three or four clubs that I know of.”

“His management will narrow down which options are better for Matty, then they will come back to us and let us know what that is.”

On Tom Bell:

“Well Tom’s in contract with Carlton. If he’d like to come back to Queensland, then we’d love him.”

On the Brisbane Lions list:

“We think we’re heading in the right direction.”

“I’m reasonably positive that in the next 2-3 years, we’ll establish a reasonably strong list.”

“We’ve got some gaps, there’s no doubt about that, but we’ll work to close those gaps up.”
