Daniel Rich became the third player in as many weeks to re-commit to the Lions, when he extended his playing contract for a further three years last Friday.

Rich joins recently re-signed ruckman Matthew Leuenberger and Queenslander Dayne Zorko as the latest players to pledge their allegiance to the Club.

The West Australian said that he was determined to help drive the Lions’ next wave of success.

“I'm rapt to be here for the next three years and to push forward with such a good group and good club in a great State,” Rich said.

“The playing group is a wonderful group and I believe as long we stick together we are going to go places.''

“It’s not just about the footy – I know that the footy club is in a great position, with a great coach, great culture.”

“I obviously love Brisbane, so it’s not just about the amazing Club, but it’s also about being at a great place.”

Rich said re-signing with the Lions was always going to be just “a matter of time”, and likened the negotiating process to purchasing real estate.

"It was just like buying a house that you love, I suppose. It is something that happens over a number of weeks,'' he said.

Despite missing a large chunk of the 2013 season with a broken scapula, Rich has returned in blistering form over the past few weeks.

He was one of the key players behind the record-breaking comeback over Geelong in Round 13, and was again one of the Lions’ better contributors during Sunday’s loss to Hawthorn with a team-high 26 disposals.
