Virtual Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420)

Build the leadership skills to succeed in high-performance environments with the Brisbane Lions, through our new online Diploma of Leadership and Management program, delivered in partnership with TAFE Queensland. 

This accelerated 6-month program is delivered virtually through interactive evening sessions, allowing students to develop practical leadership, communication and management skills while balancing work, sport and other commitments. The course is designed to equip emerging professionals with the skills needed to lead teams, manage projects, build effective workplace relationships and drive organisational performance across a range of industries. 

Students will also gain unique access to the Brisbane Lions environment, with guest speakers from Lions staff and industry professionals sharing their leadership experiences and insights. Participants are additionally invited to attend immersive face-to-face workshop days at Brighton Homes Arena, creating valuable opportunities to build networks and connect with peers, mentors and leaders within the Lions community. 

Delivery and location:  

This program is an accelerated online diploma delivered in partnership with TAFE Queensland and runs for 6-months with 2x 3-hour evening Zoom sessions per week. 

The course is delivered fully online, but participants are also invited to attend 3x Saturday face-to-face immersive days at the Brisbane Lions Brighton Homes Arena.  

What you will study: 

This qualification equips you with the practical skills to lead teams, manage operations, and drive business performance across a wide range of industries. 

You will learn how to communicate with influence, build high-performing teams, apply emotional intelligence, and lead effective workplace relationships. Develop essential management capabilities including project management, operational planning, risk management, resource allocation, and financial oversight. 

Graduates leave ready to step into supervisory and management roles with the confidence, professionalism, and strategic mindset employers value.

Eligibility:

This course is aimed at students who are eager to develop their leadership skills and gain a formal nationally accredited qualification which recognises their experience. We recommend students have at least 2 years of experience working in a professional environment (in any industry), and the desire to expand their skills and knowledge with the aim to become professional leaders of the future. 

There are no ATAR requirements for this course, but all students are expected to have successfully completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent. Students require a laptop and access to the internet to attend classes, with suitable digital skills including use of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to record videos for assessment purposes.
