Summary

Fleet of foot Harold 'Lal' McLennan played most of his 135 matches with Fitzroy as a centreman, yet was versatile enough to fill almost every position on the field.

McLennan was a dual winner of the Club’s Best and Fairest award, and along with fellow inductee George Holden, was regarded as being among the Club’s best players in both the 1913 and 1916 Grand Final triumphs. He also represented Victoria in the State of Origin series.

He later spent almost two decades on the Club’s Board, including nine years as Fitzroy’s President from 1939 to 1947 – where he was involved in another premiership in 1944 – and was heavily involved in countless other committees and projects.

Almost 70 of his 90 years were spent serving Fitzroy in one way or another – and he now represents his family as a worthy member of the Lions’ Hall of Fame.
