Hiya Ash. The rain in Brisbane since Christmas has affected a lot of things. Has it been good or bad for the team (I know we lost the intraclub game because of it)? – Daniel from Robertson

Ash: It has hindered us a bit with our preparation. We haven’t been able to get out and work our stoppages or zone set ups as much as what we would have liked. It has been no use going out on the ground at Coorparoo because it has been so waterlogged some nights. We’ve also had our fair share of soft tissue injuries this summer and you wonder whether it has had something to do with kicking a heavy ball on the heavy ground. At least there’s one good thing – we will be well and truly prepared for Geelong in Round 7 (it is always wet, windy and miserable when we play down there).

G’day Ash. I was wondering what the go is with Rhan Hooper’s new ‘do’? I didn’t recognize him on TV the other weekend. – Davo from Inala

Ash: Yes, he has had a bit of a ‘do’. It looks like it might have been a bit of a home job too. I’ve got to admit, it looks a lot neater than the long, shaggy stuff he used to have.

Hi Ash. Lachlan Henderson really impressed me in our first game against Essendon, but I didn’t get to Princes Park for the game against North and haven’t read much about the game. How did he go and does he impress you? – Suzie from Moonee Ponds

Ash: I wasn’t down there at Princess Park either! But Lachlan has fitted in really well to the place. He is always hitting up the coaches for information to improve his game. He also talks a lot to Browny and has watched all of Browny’s tapes from last year. With Braddy and Clarkey out during the pre-season it has given him a chance and he looks to be a player of the future.

Hi Ash. How do you think we will go against Geelong on Friday? Will the game be a good guide for our chances this year? – Donna from Sunbury

Ash: There’s only two practice matches to go and a few of the boys like Browny, possibly Blacky, and Luke Power could all be back, which will make the team a little bit stronger. We’re working a fair bit on our stoppages at training today (Thursday), so it will be a good chance for us to test ourselves against the premiers in an area where they are really strong.

G’day Ash. Would you like to see the nine points for the supergoal introduced into the premiership? – Shad from Parkwood, WA

Ash: No way, I hate it. I’m getting really sick of all these changes to the game. I liked it the way it was in the 1980s. We’ve had way too many changes already. I liked it when you could fly the flag for your team and not worry about getting cited.
