It's a Grand Final re-match straight off the bat for our premiers.

After a changed fixture forced an opposition swap, the Lions are SA bound to take on their rivals in the Adelaide Crows in what will be one of the most physical contests of the year. 

The two teams have a famous history within the AFLW competition and have it all to play for this Sunday, as the title holder Lions will look to yet again put the Crows to the sword on their home deck.

Here's 3 things you need to know before bounce on Sunday! 

#1: Battle of the Big Guns

Adelaide boast one of the most recognisable names in AFLW with Erin Phillips. However, she faces a formidable foe when she lines up against new Lions skipper, Bre Koenen. 

Koenen took the chocolates in the two's last meeting, getting the better of Phillips in the Grand Final in a near best on ground performance. 

At her best, Phillips has the ability to tear teams apart with her ferocious physicality and skills, highlighted by her 21-disposal, 4-goal performance against the Lions in Round 4 last year. 

In her first game as Captain, Koenen will be looking to lead her team by example and spectators will no doubt be treated to an intense battle between two superstars of the competition. 

#2: History Speaks Volumes

The Brisbane Lions and Adelaide Crows have been two of the most consistent teams since the inception of the AFLW competition.

Head-to-head, Brisbane lead 4-2 against the Crows, while each side has enjoyed a Grand Final win over the other. Amazingly, Brisbane and Adelaide have both been Grand Finalists three times out of a possible four.

Both teams boast experience and polish, with the Lions' priding themselves on their pressure, one-percenters and team-first actions. 

#3: The Midfield Arm Wrestle

The depth of both Adelaide and Brisbane is remarkable, a testament to the two sides ability to compete year in, year out. 

However, the battle in the middle of the ground will be crucial in deciding which team gets off to a perfect start in 2022.

On paper, the lineups look evenly matched.

The likes of Ebony Marinoff, Anne Hatchard and Hannah Button will have plenty to play for on their home ground.

While the Lions midfield brigade of Bates, Anderson and Svarc will pose their own challenges for Adelaide Coach, Matthew Clarke. 

In what is sure to be a see-sawing game, the midfield contest will be one that will have footy heads everywhere glued to the screen.
