Those same five players were among the leading point scorers for the Club in 2011, and have shown no signs to suggest they won’t be again this year.
Redden led the way against the Blues with 132 points, closely followed by fellow midfielders Black (126) and Rockliff (113), while defensive duo Adcock (100) and Hanley (87) rounded out the top five.
But if you’re looking at selecting any of the ‘fab five’ in your 2012 AFL Dream Team, expect to be paying a premium price.
Rockliff is the team’s most expensive player at $554,200, while Hanley is the most affordable of the quintet at just a touch under $400,000.
Meanwhile, Claye Beams (80 points), Jesse O’Brien (74 points) and Mitch Golby (73 points) also impressed, and present potential bargains around the $200K mark.
Beams played an important role up forward for the Lions last Saturday, collecting 16 touches and booting two goals, while Golby continues to shine this pre-season.
However it was O’Brien who really stood out in the second half, with 13 disposals, six marks and two goals in just 39 minutes of game time.
Like O’Brien, Hawksley saw plenty of the football in only a short time, accumulating nine disposals and 31 Dream Team points in just 17 minutes of on-field action.
