The Brisbane Lions are on the verge of smashing another Club membership record, having already hit 40,000 members for 2023 ahead of their first home game.

Last season the Lions were roaring after hitting their all-time membership record of 43, 319 – before setting themselves the ambitious goal of cracking 50,000 this year.

Brisbane Lions CEO, Greg Swann, said the Club wants to raise the bar in everything it does.

“We set ourselves the target of 50,000 members this season and we are well on track to make that happen, and I believe we will,” he said.

“It is a very exciting time for the Club, on and off the field, and we are confident that will only continue to build as the season goes on.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of the more than 40,000 members who have gone ALL IN and signed up for 2023.

“For those who haven’t, we encourage you to get behind the Lions and hopefully be part of something truly special this year.”

Members from right across the country, including all parts of Queensland and the strong supporter base of Fitzroy fans in Victoria, have again thrown their support behind the Lions.

Last year’s inspiring on-field results, which saw the Lions play in an AFL Preliminary Final and AFLW Grand Final, topped by an impressive off-season appears to have the Brisbane faithful excited for 2023.

“We have made a conscious effort to make sure we are engaging with our supporters and really getting out amongst the football and wider communities post-COVID,” Swann said.

“Football clubs wouldn’t exist without their loyal members, so it is important we continue to play for them and give back where possible.

“We play our first home game of the 2023 season at The Gabba when we take on Melbourne and want to see a packed stadium there to cheer us on in our first win.”
