The Brisbane Lions might be winless after five rounds and sitting 18th on the AFL ladder, but they’re not panicking.

In fact, the mood around the Club remains relatively calm after a difficult start to the 2014 season.

However, that doesn’t mask the burning desire among all players and coaches for that breakthrough victory.

Dayne Zorko says the Lions’ first win of the season isn’t far away, and expects it will come as soon as the team can implement their new game plan effectively.

“Our main thing is getting our game plan right. We haven’t been able to execute it at all this year so far. We have to do it over four quarters,” Zorko said.

“There’s no doubt (we’re getting closer). We’re desperate to win. There’s definitely that desire to win.

“Every weekend’s an opportunity; it’s just a matter of whether you take it. And unfortunately we haven’t been able to do that over the first five rounds.”

When executed correctly, the game plan has proven to be effective – particularly in patches across the team’s opening two matches against League leaders Geelong and Hawthorn.

However, lapses in concentration have hurt the Lions, with teams able to score heavily, and quickly, in spurts – particularly during ‘red time’.
