The triple premiership player's last final was one to forget – the 2004 grand final loss to Port Adelaide.
And Power said it had been far too long between drinks.
"It’s been four or five years and you don’t want to wait that long between finals," Power said.
"It’s a great experience to play a final of any kind, to be able to soak up the atmosphere and achieve something with your teammates and sing that anthem before the game."
The 29-year-old veteran of 238 games has played every game this season and was the leading possession getter against Port Adelaide last weekend with 31.
He said getting a home final was the driving emotion for the players as they prepared to take on the Swans at the SCG on Saturday night
"We all know how important home finals are and it’s a massive drive for us and it’s something we’re going to go into the game pretty pumped up about," Power said.
"You want to go in with form because you don’t just want to be cannon fodder in the finals."
The Lions have a dismal recent record against the Swans, winning just three of their past 14 matches.
They haven’t beaten the Swans in Sydney since the 2003 preliminary final at ANZ Stadium.
Power said the Swans had had the wood over them because of their aggression and experience.
"They’ve just probably bullied us all over the ground in the last few years," Power said.
"They’ve been a pretty experienced, strong side over the last five or six years and they’ve just been able to dominate us."
The Swans will also be riding high on emotion on Saturday night as they farewell three club legends.
"Craig Bolton’s a really good mate of mine and I spoke to him on the phone last night," Power said.
"He said that they were pretty keen to do well for Michael O'Loughlin, Jared Crouch and Leo Barry who have been great servants of AFL football."
Power said Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs were the teams to beat for the 2009 flag.
"There are a few teams that have lost games recently so it’s wide open,” Power said.
"I think Collingwood are probably the strongest side at the moment, but they play the Western Bulldogs who are probably the second strongest side at the moment," Power said.
