The Brisbane Lions have named a strong side to take on the Gold Coast SUNS for Saturday’s official AFLW practice match.
In preparation for the 2023 NAB AFLW Season, the Lions will host the SUNS at Brighton Homes Arena.
New recruits Poppy Boltz, Caitlin Wendland, Jade Pregelj and Brooke Sheridan have all been named in the squad, with the team to finalised on game day.
The Lions will be without key forward Dakota Davidson who suffered a minor hamstring injury last week but is set to be ready for Round 1 vs Richmond.
New recruits Courtney Murphy and Ellie Hampson will both miss the pre-season practice match.
Murphy continues to build back from a quad injury while Hampson’s off-season surgery rehabilitation continues, with both set to be available for the early part of the season.
Bella Smith is also unavailable for selection as she continues to build back from her ACL injury.
Analea McKee is out after dislocating her finger during last weeks match simulation but will return to full training next week.
The first bounce is from 10:30am on Saturday with fans encouraged to get down to Brighton Homes Arena.
