The Vodafone Brisbane Lions have accepted the one match suspension handed down to defender Jason Roe by the AFL Match Review Panel last night.
Roe was charged with making forceful contact from front-on to Sydney’s Luke Brennan during the first quarter of the Round 20 match between the Brisbane Lions and the Sydney Swans at the Gabba on Saturday 18 August 2007.
The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 250 demerit points and a two-match sanction with no applicable good or bad record.
The Lions early guilty plea reduced the sanction by 25 per cent to 187.5 points and a one-match sanction.
Roe will now miss the Lions’ Round 21 match against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night.
The match day report laid against the Brisbane Lions' Luke Power was also assessed by the Match Review Panel last night. Power was reported for charging Sydney's Craig Bolton during Saturday night's game. It was the view of the Panel that Power was running back with the flight of the ball with eyes only for the ball until the last second, while jumping to spoil the mark. Power did not turn and bump Bolton at any stage and it was deemed that contact was unavoidable and not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.
Will Ashcroft says the spicy off field build up to Saturday's game against St Kilda is "good for footy", but is more concerned with helping Brisbane to its first win for 2026.
