Brisbane Lions defender Jack Payne has taken the next step towards proving his fitness for Saturday’s Preliminary Final with Carlton after running at the Club’s open training on Tuesday.

Payne wore a moon boot for a few days during the Lions’ week off to help reduce some swelling in his ankle.

The defender will train again at Thursday’s main session where he will then be assessed before the Club makes a final decision on his selection.

Triple premiership forward Jack Gunston was moving freely at training and once again completed a full session on the track.

Gunston will be available for selection for Saturday’s Preliminary Final.
