That is the key message surrounding the Brisbane Lions’ 2013 membership campaign, designed to reach out to the Club’s members and supporters on a deeper and much more personal level.
Coinciding with the launch were a series of stirring video packages on the Club’s dedicated membership website, which feature a selection of players - and Senior Coach Michael Voss - delivering their own personal stories and motivations.
Captain Jonathan Brown revealed that much of his drive comes from the expectations from the Lions members.
“They pour their heart and souls into supporting us and the Club, and the expectations of me, as Captain and as a player, are that I’ll go out there and give it my best shot,” Brown said.
“When you walk around and wave to the fans after the game and they’re excited, their smiling and their singing the song, it makes me feel proud.”
“Because, at the end of the day, the fans are the footy Club.”
Brown’s sentiments were echoed by some of his teammates who laid bare their thoughts during their individual video pieces.
There’s a lot of belief and will there for the team to really succeed. That’s probably what excites me most about this group - we really want to make the Gabba a fortress and we don’t want anyone to come here and take four points off us. We really want to become a team to be reckoned with - Dayne Zorko
We don’t have a massive stadium capacity-wise, but when it’s even three-quarters full, and we’re coming back at a side, the atmosphere they create and the noise they make is…as loud as the MCG on Grand Final day - Simon Black
We know with hard work, we are going to get there. We have faith in one another, faith in the coaches, and faith in where the Club is going as a whole - Daniel Rich
We’re part of a pack, part of a pride, and belong to something. There’s strength in that - Michael Voss
