QClash28 at the Gabba is officially a sell out with Brisbane set to don retro Bears kit on Sunday in a nod to the club’s heritage.
Brisbane Lions Chief Executive Officer, Greg Swann, said with a public holiday on Monday, the Gabba will be rocking, and he was expecting the home crowd to be especially vocal.
“This is the most anticipated QClash ever, both clubs are high on the ladder, and there is a genuine sense of anticipation amongst fans ahead of the local derby,” he said.
“The Sunday night match was a new timeslot we lobbied the AFL for in 2024. Last year we set a record crowd for a QClash at the Gabba and this year will be bigger and better.”
Swann said the retro theme gave the clash a new point of difference.
“The retro kit has been selling like hotcakes; we’ve had to put another order in to meet demand and the feedback from fans around the Bears memorabilia has been overwhelmingly positive.”
“And as for match day, there will be plenty of 80s and 90s tunes to take our fans young and older, down memory lane, along with a laser and light show, so get to the Gabba early.
“And for all of the diehard Fitzroy fans, stay tuned…”
