Young gun Jaspa Fletcher will live out his childhood dream of playing for the Brisbane Lions for another four years, extending his contract until the end of 2030.
Fletcher, already contracted for 2026, has wasted no time in pledging his commitment to the Club he grew up supporting by inking the new deal.
The 21-year-old, selected with Pick 12 in the 2022 draft, also joined the Club as a father-son with his dad Adrian playing 107 games for Brisbane.
Now after living out his dream for the best part of three seasons, Fletcher says remaining at Brighton Homes Arena was an easy decision.
“I am stoked to re-sign with the Club as I love the culture that’s been built here between everyone and I love the people involved,” Fletcher said.
“I love being able to run out doing my dream job every weekend with the group we have, and I am very exciting to see what we are capable of.
“I used to dream about running out in Lions gear when I was young, so to have the chance to keep doing that was a no brainer.”
Fletcher has already experienced an impressive start to his 59-game career going from Youi Brisbane Lions Academy graduate to 2024 premiership player.
That rise has continued in his third season as a Lion with Fletcher proving his value as both a winger and defender across halfback.
And according to him he hopes to keep building on his game.
“For me personally I just want to keep developing my footy ability in any role that I am asked to play,” Fletcher said.
“I love the process of being able to improve each and every week and every year.
“As a team I’m looking forward for us to keep playing good team footy and aim to be at the end of September.”
Brisbane Lions General Manager Football, Danny Daly said it was a thrill to re-sign Fletcher who he regards as one the Club’s most exciting young talents.
“Jaspa is not only a talented footballer, but he is also a very impressive young man who has plenty of qualities to be a future leader of the Brisbane Lions,” Daly said.
“We have all enjoyed watching him develop into the player he is at this point in his career, and we are excited to see him continue to grow as a player and person.
“We are delighted to have Jaspa his parents, Adrian and Narelle, and his sister Indi remaining in the maroon, blue and gold for the next five seasons.”
