The Brisbane Lions are set to welcome back premiership defender Dayne Zorko this week, though will be without star forward Oscar Allen who requires foot surgery.
Allen left the field late in the last quarter of Sunday’s win over Adelaide where he received medical assessment and took no further part in the game.
The key forward continued to experience soreness following the match and was sent for scans which revealed a fracture in his right foot.
Following a review, it was confirmed Allen would require surgery which he will have this week.
Allen is expected to be sidelined for approximately 12 to 14 weeks.
The club will continue to take a careful approach with defender Noah Answerth as he continues to work his way back from concussion.
Answerth has started training and remains in good spirits.
The Lions are also waiting on scan results for Irish recruit Ben Murphy who injured his hamstring in Sunday’s VFL match.
