However, the Dolphins proved too dominant for the Lions, running away with a 20.15 (135) – 17.6 (108) win in Round 10 of Smithy’s VFL.

Frankston came out firing in the opening term, kicking five goals to Brisbane’s two. McLachlan was responsible for both majors following his AFL game last weekend leaving the Lions down by 28 points at the first break.

Brisbane responded strongly in the second quarter, overturning the momentum and winning the term. The Lions piled on five goals through Offermans, Zakostelsky and three from McLachlan and restricting Frankston to just three goals to cut the deficit heading into half time.

Despite the fightback, the Dolphins regained control post the main break and put a further 75 points on the board.  The Lions showed glimpses of promise with McLachlan adding two more goals to his tally, while Sam Tilley kicking his first goal in the VFL to round out the game.

James Tunstill impressed, collecting the a game high 30 disposals, Shadeau Brain was strong in defence taking eight marks, and youngster Tilley continued to show encouraging signs with a goal and 11 hit outs.

The Lions take on the Gold Coast SUNS on Queensland Day with QClash scheduled at People First Stadium this Saturday for Rd 11 of Smithy’s VFL.
