VFL Team Selection: Academy duo set for VFL debut

The Brisbane Lions have named their VFL side for Saturday’s Round 12 match against Werribee at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval.

The team sees two academy players - Ethan Duke and Alex Pope make their debut for the Lions in the VFL.

Wyatt Greenaway will also play his first game for the season for Brisbane and has been named on the interchange bench alongside Charlie Offermans, Jake Fazledeen, Ethan Duke and Reece Thompson.

The side will be bolstered by the return of defender Darragh Joyce, who comes into the side following the Lions’ victory over the Gold Coast Suns in last weekend’s AFL clash.

Cooper Hodge, Caylen Murray, Archie Watts and Matthew Owen are all unavailable for selection, due to commitments with the Allies this weekend.

The emergencies are Hunter Moore, Charlie Hewitt, Bailey Hahn, Will Shepherd and Liam Jones.

Round 12 of the Smithy VFL between Lions and Werribee will kick off at 12:00pm at Melbourne Avalon Airport Oval. The livestream can be watched on the AFL website.
