Kennedy sustained the injury during a recent training session and is consulting with specialists to determine her options.
Brisbane Lions AFLW Senior Coach Craig Starcevich said the Club was disappointed for Kennedy but confident she would approach her rehabilitation with the same professionalism she has shown since joining the program.
“We are all incredibly disappointed for Caitlin, who has made a strong impression since arriving at the Club,” Starcevich said.
“She has embraced the challenge of moving to a new country and learning a new game, and we know she will bring that same determination to her recovery.
“Our priority now is to support Caitlin through surgery and the rehabilitation process, and we will be with her every step of the way.”
Kennedy, who joined the Lions from Tipperary ahead of the 2026 AFLW season, has quickly become a valued member of the AFLW group.
The Club will provide further updates on Kennedy’s recovery when appropriate.
