The Brisbane Lions are calling all superheroes to the Gabba to celebrate the Hyundai Help for Kids’ match day the Gabba!

Every match day there is a very special part of the Gabba which boasts the best seats in the house and is custom designed and catered for the most special of VIPs, it’s called the Hyundai Help For Kids iView.

At each of our Brisbane Lions home games, children from Hyundai Help for Kids family tree of beneficiaries are invited to enjoy a day out with their families and create warm memories, when they are otherwise going through difficult times.

At this week’s Round 16 clash against Carlton, we are very lucky to host children and their families from Darling Point Special School.

In addition to hosting Darling Point Special School, Hyundai Help for Kids made Ace Bryan's “Make-A-Wish" come true.

The iView will host a Superheroes themed party, with thanks to our Match Day Partner, Hyundai.

Ace suffers from a condition called dystonia. He cannot communicate verbally but is fully cognitive and converses via an electronic augmentative communication device. He is reliant on his electric wheelchair and has limited dexterity in his hands.

The Brisbane Lions are a huge part of Ace’s life! He goes to as many games in Melbourne when he can, and his favourite player is Daniel Rich.

His “Make-A-Wish” was to feel part of the Brisbane Lions’ inner sanctum. This week he met the entire playing group and spoke to them before their Thursday morning training session. He had the entire group in stitches with his funny wise cracks. Rich presented him with his very own Lions guernsey and coaching staff, players and the high performance team shared key insights with him. Ace and his family also enjoyed a tour of the Lions facilities at the Gabba.

On Friday, Lions Captain Dayne Zorko broke the news that Ace and his mother Raylene will be tossing the coin before the match against the Blues.

Ace will then go on to watch the game with Darling Point Special School students in the Hyundai Help for Kids iView.

We are asking everyone to join in the superhero spirit and come dressed up as your favourite superhero character for the chance to win great prizes.

Up for grabs are Village Roadshow theme parks passes – gaining access to Movieworld, SeaWorld and Wet’n’Wild.

You can also join in on Hyundai Help For Kids’ support of Darling Point Special School by purchasing a ticket in our 50-50 raffle. One lucky person will win 50% of the prize pool in the random draw at the end of the game.  The remaining funds raised will go to Darling Point Special School.

Established in 2014, Hyundai Help for Kids is a collaborative partnership between Hyundai Motor Company Australia and the 170-strong Hyundai National Dealer Network. Hyundai Help for Kids was created to support not-for-profit organisations providing assistance to Australian children and their families.

Every time a new vehicle is sold in Australia, customers and owners are joining Hyundai and Hyundai Dealers to raise funds for our initiative. So, in effect, every Hyundai owner joins our family of not-for-profit organisations supporting Australians under the age of 18, with the cumulative tally now reaching over five million dollars.

Make-A-Wish Australia is a recipient of Hyundai Help for Kids. It was founded in 1985, they have now granted over 8,500 wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Make-A-Wish wishes gives very sick children and teenagers hope for the future, strength to face the challenges of their illness, and joy from their incredible wish experience.

Darling Point Special School focuses on educational programs directly related to individual student strengths, interests and needs, including special needs, cultural priorities and personal aspirations. Inclusion, equity, life quality and quality outcomes give purpose to our attention to evidence-based teaching approaches.
