AFL Media's Michael Whiting takes a look at the Lions' injury list and team predictions for Round 12:

Following some strong NEAFL form, Sam Mayes has earned the right to a recall for his 100th game.

Tom Bell and Josh Walker have also been consistent in the NEAFL, while first year Brandon Starcevich might be nearing a debut in coming weeks.

Ryan Lester and Ben Keays are likely to remain in the side following their return to Senior last week and can be expected to make a better fist of things if given another chance.

Charlie Cameron (foot) and Mitch Robinson (toe) will miss, while Allen Christensen (concussion), Hugh McCluggage (calf) and Jarrod Berry (hamstring) will all be tested.

It'll come down to how many are ruled out with injury following tests, but Mayes and Bell look good replacements for Cameron and Robinson.

Ahead of Sunday's clash, AFL Media's Callum Twomey takes a look at Essendon:

Aaron Francis will be strongly considered again after continuing his strong VFL form again over the weekend.

Jake Long also played well at VFL level, while Josh Green booted two goals.

Jordan Ridley has been quiet the past two weeks after his brilliant debut against the Cats so could be given a refresh.

The Bombers look set to lose David Zaharakis after he hurt his collarbone in last week's loss to Richmond.

Travis Colyer made his return to the field at VFL level on the weekend after a foot injury has kept him sidelined all year.

Francis would add some genuine talent to the Bombers side and is ready for his first senior game of this season. Get him in.
