The Brisbane Lions have selected Jaxon Prior from West Perth Falcons with Pick 59 at the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.

Jaxon is the son of former Essendon and West Coast defender Michael Prior who is currently an assistant coach at the Fremantle Dockers.

He’s a readymade defender who is able to not only intercept the ball, but has superb vision, skills and decision making.

While other defenders are able to lock down, Prior is able to be creative in defence to hurt opposition zones.

At the 2019 AFL Draft Combine, he impressed with his agility and running vertical leap.

Lions Recruiting Manager, Steve Conole, says:

“Jaxon is a classy hybrid defender who was who was a key member of the victorious WA U18 Championship team.”

“Playing across half back, his ability to win the footy and use it well with his game breaking LF kicking really stood out.

“Offers us more creativity and class from half back and through the wings.”

Jaxon topped off a fine individual 2019 season when he was among five Falcons named in the WAFL Colts team of the year.

Welcome to the Den, Jaxon!
