Jessica Wuetschner will not play in the Lions Round 2 AFLW Clash against Geelong. This decision, made in consultation with Wuetschner, is part of the Club’s ongoing management process of the 27-year-old after she was involved in a workplace incident in late January.

Lions Women’s CEO Breeanna Brock said the Club will continue to put Wuetschner’s health and wellbeing first.

“The recovery process from a lightning strike is not straight-forward, as the event itself is so rare,” Brock said.

“We will continue to work with our doctors and medical staff who are managing Jess’ recovery.

“We know how amazing Jess is both on and off the field and the support she’s received from the broader community during this difficult time has been heart-warming.

“We'd just ask that people respect her privacy at this time."

The Club will not make further comment.
